More evident evidence has now emerged to suggest that the cell phone will, in fact, abandon the 10x zoom camera.
Is it worth having a zoom like this?
Armed with a 200MP main sensor, a 12MP Ultra wide-angle lens, a 10MP 3x Telephoto lens and a 10MP 10x periscope unit, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is one of the best camera phones of 2023. The module 10MP 10x is particularly impressive and gives the phone a greater zoom range than other devices.
In September, it was reported that the Galaxy S24 Ultra would lose the 10MP 10x camera, with subsequent rumors claiming it would be replaced by a 50MP camera with 5x optical zoom.
In December, a rumor claimed that the phone would retain the 10x camera, and the recently leaked official marketing material didn’t exactly clear up the confusion, stating that the phone would have a quad telephoto camera with 2x, 3x, 5x and 10x zoomnot to mention the exact specifications of Telephoto lenses.
To dispel the confusion, @chunvn8888 published an image of the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s camera array.
Assuming the information leak is real, the image clearly shows that the Galaxy S24 Ultra does not have a 10MP 10x periscope camera. While many will be sad to see the 10x camera disappear, this could be a wise decision. Since the 50MP camera has a higher resolution, it will record more details.
And as the term “quad telephoto camera” implies, it seems very likely that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will utilize sensor cropping and digital zoom for a 10x zoom range.
The phone is rumored to have a 6.8-inch display, titanium design, 5,000mAh battery and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
