Samsung held an event at the Samsung 837 store in New York on September 26, US time, and announced the $649.99 (about 94,500 yen) smartphone “Galaxy S24 FE.” Although it is priced lower than the Galaxy S24, which costs $799.99 (124,700 yen in Japan), it is equipped with the latest AI functions. Orders will begin to be accepted in the country on October 3.

The Galaxy S24 FE includes many of the features of the Galaxy S24, including Real-time Definition, Border Search, AI Genetic Editing to remove unnecessary objects from photos, Format Notes, and Translation It also includes “Galaxy AI” features such as “Note Assist,” which provides summaries. Like the Galaxy S24, it comes with seven years of software and security updates.

The Galaxy S24 FE is equipped with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display and a 4700mAh battery. After playing around with this smartphone, I felt that the design was similar to the 2023 Galaxy S23 FE. You can see that it is slightly longer than the 6.4-inch Galaxy S23 FE. The battery has increased from 4500mAh in the Galaxy S23 FE to 4700mAh.

The back of the Galaxy S24 FE is equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens. The camera engine “ProVisual Engine” which uses AI is said to improve details and textures.
During my hands-on experience, I took a few photos of the kitchen counter lined with muffins and chocolates at the Samsung 837 showroom.

The wide-angle, ultra-wide, and telephoto shots all capture the texture of the muffin well, but to get a more accurate idea of how your smartphone camera performs in the real world, you’ll want to look at different brightness. You must shoot in a safe environment.
