Samsung Galaxy S24: Design Changes and New Technologies Revealed

The basic variant of the Galaxy S24 will receive a slight design change
Curved edges will disappear, modern UWB and LTPO technologies should start
Compared to the current model, it will be more of an evolution

Although the official presentation of the new Galaxy S24 model series from Samsung is still a few months away, this does not mean that we will not have at least a general idea of what these new products will look like before the presentation itself. Nowadays, more than ever, information leaks are welcome, so thanks to a number of whistleblowers, we can take a look at the upcoming smartphones in advance and also often learn their complete specifications. The South Korean giant is no exception in this regard, as evidenced by the newly published renders, which are supposed to show the final design of the Galaxy S24 smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy S24 revealed in full display

The Smartprix server took care of their publication in cooperation with the well-known leaker OnLeaks, which has a number of successful revelations to its credit. The basic Galaxy S24 model should have a 6.1″ display, i.e. the same size as the current Galaxy S23. From a design point of view, the main changes will be the edges, which will no longer be curved, but more flat, probably for an easier grip, although not everyone will agree with this move.

As for the dimensions, they are estimated to be 147 x 70.5 x 7.6 millimeters and not much different from the current flagship model (146.3 x 70.9 x 7.6 millimeters). A complete 360° view of the device also revealed a visible UWB antenna, which should appear for the first time in a flagship model from Samsung. The back of the device will not change much compared to the current generation, the trio of cameras in the upper left corner still plays the role without a prominently protruding module.

From possible specifications, there is speculation about Dynamic M13 AMOLED LTPO panel with 120Hz refresh rate, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset accompanied by Adreno 740 graphics, or Exynos 2400 with Mali graphics, up to 12 GB of RAM, up to 512 GB of internal memory, Android 14 with superstructure OneUI 6, a fingerprint reader in the display, a titanium frame, protection against water and dust of the IP68 standard or a battery with a capacity of 4,700 mAh with support for 45W wired charging and wireless charging of unspecified power. From the cameras, we should expect a main 50 Mpx sensor, a 12 Mpx wide-angle camera and a 10 Mpx sensor with a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. A 12MP camera will then be reserved for selfies.

Don’t overlook

The presentation of the Galaxy S24 has clearer outlines. Maybe we’ll see it sooner than usual

The Korean company traditionally does not attach too much importance to the basic model, however, the minor design change will aim more at limiting the influence of competition in the form of Apple and predatory Chinese brands. According to some speculations, all models would receive the LTPO panel, which until now was reserved for the premium Ultra variant. With the likely appearance of the basic Galaxy S24 revealed, we will most likely soon also see the leak of information about the higher models, i.e. Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra – while the S24+ should not be too different from the S24 in terms of design, in the case of the Ultra variant we could expect a completely new design.
