Samsung will launch its flagship mobile phone Galaxy S21 in the first half of 2021 on the 29th. It will also launch different processor versions for different markets. Taiwan will launch a version with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 processor as usual in Hong Kong, China and the United States, including Europe. The remaining markets, including Samsung’s own Exynos 2100.
Although the two processors including S888 and E2100 use Samsung’s 5nm process, due to the high processor power consumption of the S888 on the previous Xiaomi Mi 11, and the E2100 has a higher clock than the S888, many netizens Also concerned about the performance and endurance of these two versions.
And we also got the E2100 European version and S888 Taiwan commercial version of the S21 Ultra real machine. Next, there will be a series of actual test articles. First, let’s take a look at the performance and endurance of these two versions. The difference.
(Except for special conditions, both models are factory default settings, including screen resolution FHD+ and optimized update rate)
Effectiveness: AnTuTu
–
▲ Left: Taiwan Qualcomm version, right: European Orion version. The Qualcomm version of AnTuTu scored 684,916 points, while the Orion version of AnTuTu scored 641035 points. Looking closely at the running scores of the two machines, it is found that the CPU, GPU, and UX scores of the S888 version are higher than those of the E2100 version. The running scores consume less power, but the temperature rises more.
Performance measurement: Geekbench 5
–
▲ Left: Taiwan Qualcomm version, right: European Orion version. The Qualcomm version of Geekbench is divided into single-core 1118, multi-core 3381, and Orion version is single-core 1092, multi-core 3534. It can be seen that the S888 processor has a small win against E2100 in the single-core part, while the E2100 has a small win against S888 in the multi-core part.
Performance measurement: Androbench 5
–
▲ Left: Taiwan Qualcomm version, right: European Orion version. Androidbench mainly tests the read and write speed of the storage space of the mobile phone. It can be seen that since the storage space of the S21 Ultra uses the UFS 3.1 interface, the speed of reading and writing is quite good, but the memory access speed of the Orion version seems to be faster, not only The continuous writing speed reaches 1293.6 MB/s, and the random read and write part has better performance. Perhaps it is the reason why the memory test items of the Orion version in AnTuTu are higher than that of the Qualcomm version.
Endurance measured
Regarding the battery life, we adjusted the settings of the two versions of S21 Ultra to be the same (fixed screen brightness at 50%, volume at 50%, and turned on airplane mode), and used PCMark’s battery life test to test the phone’s power from 100% to 20 % time.
First of all, with the screen update rate maintained at the default “optimized” setting (up to 120Hz), the Qualcomm S21 Ultra ran out of 11 hours and 14 minutes of battery life, while the S21 Ultra Orion version had a battery life of 6 hours and 46 minutes. , S21 Ultra, which represents the S888 version, has a much higher endurance performance than the Orion version.
For comparison, last year’s Samsung Qualcomm S865 version S20 Ultra also equipped with 5000 mAh battery, ran out of 9 hours and 47 minutes of battery life in 120Hz mode, and 15 hours and 1 minute in 60Hz mode.
▲ The Qualcomm version of S21 Ultra has an endurance of 11 hours and 14 minutes at 120Hz.
▲ Orion version of S21 Ultra, running 6 hours and 46 minutes under 120Hz endurance score.
In addition, we also used the Qualcomm version of S21 Ultra, adjusted the screen update rate to 60Hz and ran the PCMark battery life again. The results have not been released before the deadline, and we will add them when there are results; but because the Orion version can be tested for a short time, Therefore, there is no endurance test for the 60Hz part.
summary
Judging from the performance and endurance tests of Qualcomm and Orion S21 Ultra, although everyone does not seem to be confident about Qualcomm S888, in fact the Qualcomm version is better than the Orion version in terms of performance and endurance, so you star fans We don’t need to worry too much.
In addition, we have to feel the temperature of the phone to see if it is very hot during the performance test of the S21 Ultra mobile phone; the result is also a little warm, not so hot or even hot; The temperature of the mobile phone recorded by the Antutu test dropped only to 41 degrees. However, this part may require some long-term use or playing heavyweight mobile games to be more accurate.
