Samsung Galaxy S21 FE expectations would be moderated by the company

The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE was launched on October 2, 2020. The device arrived as a more affordable variant of the main Galaxy S20 series. The device was a huge success, making it one of Samsung’s top three sellers, picking up sales from the original Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 series. These numbers were one of the main reasons why Samsung did not unplug the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE. Still, it looks like the company is already accepting that the cheaper variant of the Galaxy S21 series isn’t as popular as its predecessor.

According to a report from The Elec, Samsung has lowered its expectations for the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE. The report claims that Samsung originally planned to mass-produce the device in the first half of 2021, leading us to believe that Samsung wanted the device to hit the market last month. However, the current chip shortage has hampered the company’s plans.

The South Korean tech giant is believed to have set its sales expectations at around 10 million units. Still, the constant delays and the ongoing pandemic may have reduced Samsung’s target by 3 million units. Nonetheless, the company could now consider launching serial production of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE this month, which means we could see the device launch in late October, as previous rumors suggest.

Another reason behind this possible change in production plans is that Samsung may consider that the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE might gain less attention from customers who plan to get the new iteration of the Galaxy S series in a few months. Still, the Galaxy S21 FE will be the new go-to device for anyone who isn’t interested in a new foldable smartphone, which means it might still perform well.

The report also mentions that Samsung may be preparing to launch mass production of the Samsung Galaxy S22 series in November. This makes us believe that we might witness the launch of a new Galaxy S series again in January.

And you? Are you planning to get a Samsung Galaxy S21 FE or are you going to wait for the Samsung Galaxy S22 series to launch?
