Starting today, you can install the December update on the Galaxy S21 FE. Apart from the latest security patch, this update does not contain any major changes.

With the rollout of a major Android upgrade, it can sometimes happen that the individual security updates fall through the cracks. This year, however, Samsung is doing quite well in delivering both Android 14 and the latest patches on time to quite a few phones.
The Galaxy S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra received the Android 14 upgrade in November, and the December update shortly before Christmas. Since the Galaxy S21 FE received the Android 14 upgrade earlier in December, we were a little concerned that this month’s patch might be delayed.
But no, today the S21 FE will also receive this month’s patch at the last minute. Firmware version G990BXXS6FWL2 has been available since early this morning, and installs the December security patch. This includes a few software security improvements for Qualcomm processors, including the Galaxy S21 FE’s Snapdragon 888.
Furthermore, ‘RCE leak’ will be closed: a remote code execution bug, which allowed remote code execution. And there are fixes on board for it Knoxsecurity system, the Contacts app, the bootloader and AR Emoji.
Availability
The December update is now available on the unbranded Galaxy S21 FE in the Netherlands, Belgium and the rest of Europe. As always, you can wait for the notification, or get started manually via Settings -> Software update -> Download and install.
