Samsung Galaxy S20, OnePlus 8 Pro, Huawei P40 Pro (video)

In a big comparison, the flagship smartphones from Huawei, Samsung, OnePlus and Apple compete against each other. Who offers more battery life?

All flagship smartphones of the first half of the year should now be available everywhere and the hottest candidates are of course happy to be compared. First and foremost the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra with the Huawei P40 Pro, but also the OnePlus 8 Pro slowly joins in. In a new comparison, the said smartphones had to show which devices with everyday apps can offer the longest battery life.

There are various requirements. Samsung has the largest battery in the Ultra with 5000 mAh, while Apple, on the other hand, does not even offer 4000 mAh in the iPhone 11 Pro Max. They are already closer together OnePlus 8 smartphones and the Huawei P40 Pro. Various processors are also used in the models tested. So who can do the most when it comes to battery life?

I am disappointed with the OnePlus smartphones. After about half, the OnePlus 8 has only 34 percent battery and the Pro only 46 percent, meanwhile all competitors are still over 50 or even 60 percent. When the first phone gave up, the OnePlus 8 with 4300 mAh battery after 6:20 hours, the OnePlus 8 Pro still had 9 percent remaining battery life, the Huawei P40 Pro still 10 percent and the devices from Apple and Samsung each 30 percent.

Almost simultaneously, the OnePlus and Huawei smartphones are empty after about 7 hours. And in the final, of course, the smartphones with each other had the largest and smallest battery. As it should be in the end, the iPhone wins by a small margin. Again a signal to the competition how well hardware and software can be coordinated.

PS: Such a comparison is of course only a rough yardstick and does not have to be the same for every usage scenario. And if you already have a device that you are satisfied with, it remains simple, even if it emerges from a comparison of this kind as a loser.
