Samsung Galaxy A55: FCC Certification Confirms Specs and Features

After the successful release of the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung is now setting its sights on its next premium mid-range phone, the highly anticipated Galaxy A55. Following the unveiling of the Galaxy A54 in March last year, it is expected that Samsung will officially announce the Galaxy A55 in less than two months.

Over the past couple of weeks, a plethora of information about the Galaxy A55 has surfaced online, including some of its specifications through various certifications and benchmarks. Now, with the recent FCC certification, previously known details about the phone have been confirmed.

One of the key features confirmed by the FCC certification is that the Galaxy A55 will support 25W charging. Additionally, Samsung is likely to equip the device with a 5,000 mAh battery, similar to its predecessors, the A53 and A55. The FCC also revealed other expected features such as dual SIM slots, NFC capabilities, and support for Wi-Fi 6.

It is worth noting that the Galaxy A54 was Samsung’s second mid-range phone to feature Wi-Fi 6 connectivity. However, it is unlikely that an upgrade to Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 will be included in this year’s Galaxy A55. Even the flagship Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are limited to Wi-Fi 6E due to the Exynos 2400 chip’s lack of Wi-Fi 7 compatibility.

Powering the Galaxy A55 will be Samsung’s Exynos 1480, the company’s first mid-range chip featuring a GPU based on AMD’s RDNA graphics architecture. While Samsung faced some challenges with its first flagship chip, the Exynos 2200, which incorporated an AMD GPU, hopes are high that the Exynos 1480 will not encounter similar issues.

As for the software, it is expected that the Galaxy A55 will come pre-installed with Android 14 and One UI 6.1. However, it remains to be seen which of the Galaxy S24’s AI features will be available on the mid-range device.

With the FCC certification confirming these specifications and features, anticipation for the Galaxy A55 continues to grow. Samsung enthusiasts and mid-range smartphone users alike eagerly await its official release, hoping that it will deliver a compelling combination of performance, features, and affordability. Stay tuned for further updates as we approach the launch date of the Samsung Galaxy A55.
