Metroterkini.com – The incident of burning cellphones in the plane cabin has occurred again. This time it happened in the cabin of a US airline, Alaska Airlines. The phone that caught fire on the plane was rumored to be the Samsung Galaxy A21.

The burning cellphone emitted smoke in the aircraft cabin, the cabin crew opened the door and developed an escape slide. Passengers were evacuated and asked to get off the plane.

This incident began when the flight number 751 for the New Orleans-Seattle route had just landed at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, last Monday (23/8/2021).

Suddenly, the cellphone that was in the storage area above the passenger caught fire and emitted thick smoke.

The Alaska Airlines flight crew then deployed a fire extinguisher and put the burning cell phone in a special fireproof bag.

According to Seattle airport spokesman Perry Cooper, the phone could not be identified because it had been charred.

“During an interview with the Port of Seattle Police, the owner of the phone stated it was a Samsung Galaxy A21. But we can’t confirm (the model) just by looking at the remains of the device,” Cooper explained.

Reporting from Apple Insider, Wednesday (25/8/2021), Alaska Airlines Flight 751 was carrying 128 passengers and six cabin crew. Two passengers were reportedly injured, and have been treated at a local hospital.

This incident is reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 device. The incident then triggered Samsung to recall all Galaxy Note 7 devices from circulation, after just being launched. It is not yet known whether the burning incident of the Samsung Galaxy A21 cell phone is an isolated incident, or the result of a design flaw that the cellphone has. [**]
