Samsung is installed the budget mobile phone Galaxy A16 on its Dutch website. The most special thing is that the phone will receive six new versions of Android and six years of security updates.
The flagship Galaxy products are renewed for seven years just like the Pixel 8 and later models, but six years is certainly not a shame in the budget class. A little further down on the website it says “up to six years” and the company’s renewal policy can be changed. However, it seems that the patch is just a warning and the Galaxy A16 should be updated for six years.
At the time of writing, the website does not list full specifications but mentions a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with an FHD+ refresh rate and 90 Hz. The Galaxy A16 offers an IP54 rating, a 5000 mAh battery, and three rear cameras: a main camera (50 MP), a wide-angle wide-angle camera (50 MP) and a low-resolution image sensor for macro photography.
The price seems to be below 250 euros. Hopefully the Galaxy A16 will also be updated for six years meaning that other new A models will receive the same generous range of updates in the future.
