LIVE Techno – Samsung is preparing to launch cellphones in the middle class segment of the Galaxy A and M series. Several are already busy milling about on the internet.
Most recently, the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G appeared on the e-commerce site belonging to the US supermarket chain, Walmart. The site has included a list of specifications and prices for affordable cellphones from Samsung.
Reporting from Gizchina, Tuesday, November 28 2023, the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G will be priced at US$139 or the equivalent of IDR 2.1 million for an internal storage capacity or 128GB ROM. The color variants are blue and black.
This price benchmark can be said to be pocket-friendly for cellphone options that support 5G networks. It seems that Samsung wants to emphasize its position as brand with a strong product portfolio in various segments.
Until now, there has been no official announcement about the launch of the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G or 4G variant. However, various leaks that have been circulating indicate that the South Korean manufacturer will make it official in the near future.
In a similar price segment, several other Android cellphone manufacturers have also prepared ‘ammunition’. For example, Xiaomi with the Redmi A2+, and Realme with the V50 series.
Meanwhile, Honor, a brand that was previously known as Huawei’s “cheap” cellphone, is trying to find capital so it can compete better against Apple. After being separated from Huawei, Honor plans to hold an initial public offering (IPO).
Reporting from CNBC International, three years ago, Huawei was practically forced by US sanctions to sell its subsidiary, Honor. Well, Honor is now the market leader in China and is also quickly gaining market share in Europe.
“To achieve new strategic goals, Honor will continue to optimize its shareholder structure, attract diversified capital, and enter the capital market through an IPO,” said Honor, without specifying the IPO destination country.
The move to raise funds on the stock exchange shows Honor’s aggressiveness in increasing market share in tight competition with iPhones made by Apple and Samsung, in the premium cellphone market.
Huawei was forced to sell Honor in 2020 to a consortium, including the Shenzhen regional government. The trigger was US sanctions which made it difficult for Huawei to buy important technology, such as software and semiconductors.
This step allows Honor to continue operating after being separated from Huawei. In the past, Honor was known as the “cheap” version of Huawei cellphones. Honor is now targeting the premium cellphone market, competing with Apple and Samsung.
