Samsung Future Galaxy S Camera Upgrades: Plans Leaked for S25 Ultra and S26 Ultra

  • Samsung’s plans for the next several generations of Galaxy S phones should have been leaked
  • So we learn about some improvements to the cameras on the Galaxy S25 Ultra and S26 Ultra

South Korea’s Samsung is already planning to launch its upcoming flagship Galaxy S24 series in a few weeks. We already know practically everything about them, including new camera features or expected price. However, a new leak talks about how stepped-up cameras we will be able to see in future models of the Galaxy S series.

Galaxy S24 Ultra with a slight upgrade

In mid-January, Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S24 series, with the flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra. It is supposed to offer one of the best camera sets on the market. Current leaks point to a 200MP main camera with f/1.7 aperture, 24mm focal length and optical image stabilization.

Cameras

Main: 200 Mpx, f/1.7, 24mm, 1/1.3″, 0.6µm, PDAF, laser AF, OIS,
second: 10 Mpx, telephoto lens, f/4.9, 230mm, 1/3.52″, 1.12µm, dual pixel PDAF, OIS, 10x optical zoom,
third: 50 Mpx, telephoto lens, f/2.4, 70mm, 1/3.52″, 1.12µm, dual pixel PDAF, OIS, 2× and 5× optical zoom,

Three more sensors are then connected to it. First of all, it is a 12 Mpx wide-angle with a 120° angle of view and then a duo of telephoto lenses. The basic 50 Mpx glass with a focal length of 70 mm promises 2x and 5x optical zoom. Its 10 Mpx colleague with an aperture of f/4.9 and a focal length of up to 230 mm offers even 10x zooming without loss of quality.

That’s not really a major improvement over last year’s S23 Ultra. However, it seems that Samsung is planning more innovations in the coming years. The alleged official plans for two years were shared on the X network by a tipster with the nickname @Tech_Reve.

The future is even more interesting

According to his findings, the only significant improvement next year will be the 50Mpx telephoto lens we already mentioned. However, for 2025 and the Galaxy S25 Ultra model, a much larger portion of improvements are planned. For example, a larger update of the wide-angle camera to 50 Mpx resolution. The main telephoto lens and primary camera will also get a slight upgrade.

Sufficient improvements arrive a year later. The source mentions the deployment of a 200Mpx main camera with a pixel size of 0.7µm and a sensor size of 1/1.10″. However, there are doubts as to why the Korean giant will not use the relatively proven technology of large 1″ photo sensors even in two years.

There is also some speculation about the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s wide-angle camera. Either there will be an internal improvement of the already used 50 Mpx camera, but some sources also refer to the deployment of a record 200 Mpx super-wide-angle camera.
