Samsung Folding Mobile Phone Cheaper Version Can Wi-Fi Certification

The lite version of the Samsung folding phone is expected to launch before the end of the year.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The WiFi technology certification organization, the Wi-Fi Alliance, has reportedly certified mobile phones Samsung which is thought to be a lite version of the folding screen phone. Quoted from GSM Arena, the phone has the model number SM-F415F / DS.

The first “F” code means it can be folded like the first generation Galaxy Fold which has the model number F900 and the Galaxy Z Flip which has the model number F700. Meanwhile, the first number after the letter is thought to be a series that determines the class of the product.

For example, the Galaxy Fold which has the number “9” is a premium version of the foldable screen device, while the Galaxy Z Flip which has the number “7” indicates the mid-range version of the foldable device which is priced lower than the Fold.

Thus, the number “4” can indicate that the device is a more affordable or “lite” version of Samsung’s folding screen phone. The absence of WiFi 6 on the certification also strengthens the indication that the device is not the flagship version of Samsung’s folding screen phone.

According to reports Phone Arena, Samsung’s “lite” folding screen phone is expected to come with 64GB and 128GB storage variants with green, blue and black color options. The device is also expected to launch before the end of this year with a mid-range processor and will carry a clamshell design.

In terms of price, the “lite” version reportedly targets a range of US $ 1,100 or around Rp. 16.2 million. In comparison, the Galaxy Fold, which launched in Indonesia in December 2019, is priced at IDR 30,888 million. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip, which was released in Indonesia in March 2020, was sold for IDR 21,888 million.
