Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Park Sang-ha’s first retirement from active volleyball controversy

“Apologize for assault during middle and high school – reflection”

-Park Sang-ha (35, photo) of the Samsung Fire Center for the men’s professional volleyball team retired completely after acknowledging the fact of being abusive (school violence). It is the retirement of the first active player after the volleyball-related abuses, starting with sisters Lee Jae-young and Lee Da-young (25) of Heungkuk Life Insurance on the 10th.

On the 22nd, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance said, “Park Sang-ha admitted that he had been abusing twice while in school, and on this day, he announced his intention to retire to the club. The club decided to accept this.” Through the club, Sang-ha Park said, “I hit a friend in middle school and hit a junior at a dorm in high school. I apologize to those who were hurt by me in middle and high school. He said, “I will take responsibility for this because I know that’there can’t be justified for any reason’, and I will retire the volleyball player at the present time and live with reflection.”

However, he denied the kidnapping, confinement, and group assault of alumni in middle school, which was raised through an internet post on the 19th. He drew a line about this, saying, “It is not at all true, and we will try to find out the truth through legal action.” As the problem arose, the club also confirmed that Park Sang-ha’s argument was reliable as a result of checking the school life records, and decided not to play Park Sang-ha in the game until the facts became clear. Accordingly, Park Sang-ha missed the game against Hyundai Capital on the 19th. However, in the course of an interview with the club on the 20th, Park Sang-ha confessed the fact of a separate abuse committed during middle and high school, and immediately left the club’s accommodation.

Park Sang-ha, who was nominated for Dream Six (now Woori Card) as the fifth priority in the first round of the 2008-2009 season, scored 317 games, 1177 sets, 1933 points (50.58% attack success rate) and 712 blocks during the 10 pro season. Ahead of this season, he signed the second free agent contract with Samsung Fire & Marine and became the captain of the team. He played for the national team in 2014 Incheon Asian Games (bronze medal). Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance said, “After this time, we will more closely investigate the history of abuse and illegal activities not only from the current squad, but also from the future player selection stage.”Go to reporter page>
