Samsung extends its repair program to Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Book

Samsung adds the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Book to its self-repair program. Perfect if your device has a little problem.

Samsung a extended its self-repair program for Galaxy devices, adding the latest generation of smartphones and, for the first time, PCs. This repair program was the result of a collaboration with iFixit, which provides the repair tools and guides.

As of today, it is possible to order repair kits for the 15-inch models of the Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy Book Pro 360. Among the supported repairs, the screen, the battery, the touchpad, the chassis (front and rear), the power key with fingerprint reader and the rubber foot. Samsung has also added kits for the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra. Screen, glass back and charging port are affected.

These models join those already present since the launch, namely the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S21 and Galaxy Tab S7+. New kits always offer a free return label to allow you to return end-of-life components to Samsung for recycling.

Although Apple’s similar program covers more components (including cameras and the SIM drawer), you must rent or purchase the tools separately and chat over the phone to complete the process. With Samsung’s kit, all you have to do is buy the component and follow the instructions.

Samsung touts its self-repair program as a practical and environmentally friendly solution, but this is all just a consequence of Right to Repair legislation put in place at the federal and state levels. A good thing for end customers, of course, but which has nothing to do with a pure and beautiful intention on the part of the South Korean giant, nor of the apple brand, for that matter.
