[아이뉴스24 박지은 기자] Jong-hee Han, Vice Chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics, said in his opening speech at the ‘Samsung AI Forum 2024’ being held at the Suwon Convention Center on the 4th, “AI is changing our lives at an incredible speed, and as it becomes more powerful, we will be asked ‘how can we use AI more responsibly? “Whether we can do it is becoming more and more important,” he said, adding, “Samsung Electronics will fulfill its responsibility to build a more efficient and sustainable AI ecosystem.”
The Samsung AI Forum, now in its 8th year, is a venue for technological exchange where world-renowned scholars and experts in the fields of artificial intelligence and computer engineering are invited to share the latest research results and explore future research directions.

At this forum, keynote speeches were given by global AI scholars, including △Professor Yoshua Bengio of the University of Montreal in Canada, a world authority in the field of deep learning; △Yan LeCun Meta, chief AI scientist and professor at New York University in the U.S.; and △Ian Horrocks, a professor at Oxford University in the UK, a world authority in the field of knowledge graphs. went to
The first day’s forum held at the Suwon Convention Center was held under the theme of ‘Exploring sustainable innovation methods using artificial intelligence and semiconductor technology.’
At the forum, attendees shared AI and CE (Computer Engineering) technology research results that can strengthen next-generation semiconductor development and production capabilities and discussed future development directions.
Professor Bengio emphasized building a safer and more reliable AI system in his keynote lecture titled ‘Bayesian Oracles for AI Safety.’
He introduced research results on the risks of AI’s future, such as large-scale labor market impacts, hacking using AI, and the emergence of super intelligence, and said, “For AI safety, policymakers as well as the public must accurately understand the current status and future of AI. “There has to be,” he said.
Professor Yann LeCun gave a keynote lecture to explain the level and limitations of the current Large Language Model (LLM) and emphasized that additional technological innovation is needed for machines to reach the level of human intelligence.
The second day of the Samsung AI Forum, held on the 5th, was held at Samsung Electronics’ Seoul R&D Campus by Samsung Research under the theme of ‘Device AI for everyone’s daily life.’
Daehyun Kim, Vice President and Head of Global AI Center at Samsung Electronics, said in his welcoming speech, “Changes in daily life in device AI are accelerating due to the development of generative AI technology,” and “This forum is an opportunity to discuss and share new possibilities in the coming AI era.” “I hope it becomes a good place,” he said.

Last July, Samsung Electronics acquired OST, which possesses the world’s best ‘knowledge graph’ source technology.
Samsung Electronics SAIT AI Research Center Director (Vice President) Chang-gyu Choi said in a presentation on ‘AI for Science’, “AI and semiconductor technology not only improve our lives, but are also very important in the scientific field by reducing development time and costs.” “AI is of great help, especially in cases where experimental data is lacking or material synthesis is difficult,” he said.
