“Samsung Electronics Launches Global Eco-Friendly Campaign for Earth Day 2022”

Samsung Electronics has conducted various eco-friendly campaigns around the world to raise awareness of the importance of environmental protection on Earth Day on April 22, according to the company on Sunday.

To celebrate Earth Day, established in 1970 to help preserve our planet’s environment, Samsung Electronics announced that it is holding a campaign among employees and consumers to collect used cellphones at its business locations in Korea. from April 17 to May 12.

In addition to Samsung Electronics, 10 affiliates joined the campaign, including Samsung Display, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung SDS, Samsung C&T, Samsung Heavy Industries and Samsung Biologics.

“The campaign, which began in 2015, is held annually on Earth Day to raise awareness about environmental protection and resource recycling. Over the past eight years, 64,330 cell phones have been collected, including 12,675 in 2022 alone,” the company said.

Not only in Korea but also in 37 other countries like USA and India. The company’s service center launched the campaign to collect used mobile phones to be proactive in solving environmental problems.

In Kazakhstan, Samsung has installed collection boxes for used cell phones in eight universities across the country. The company also gave lectures to students of the Almaty University of Technology on proper e-waste disposal and resource utilization to raise awareness about resource recovery and reuse.

In 16 countries with insufficient waste collection infrastructure, such as Chile and Egypt, Samsung is also building collection systems for used products. The company also offers take-back programs in major regions such as Latin America and the Middle East for better utilization of resources.

To join the movement against climate change, Samsung has already announced its new environmental strategy in 2022 to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. To this end, the company will develop semiconductors and computer gadgets that are less energy-efficient and will convert 100% of its electricity supply. to renewable sources by 2050.
