Samsung Electronics has partnered with Charlie Kaufman, an Oscar-winning film director and screenwriter, to release a short film shot with the Galaxy Camera.
This partnership is part of the ‘Filmed #withGalaxy’ project, which is designed to inspire famous film directors around the world to shoot movies with Galaxy S series smartphones and to inspire Galaxy users to be creative.
※ Through the ‘Filmed #withGalaxy’ campaign, a short film ‘Princess & Peppernose’, shot with ‘Galaxy S21 Ultra’ in collaboration with British film director Joe Wright in October 2021, 2021 In November 2017, he presented ‘Kids of Paradise’ with Chinese film director Xia Mo (沙漠) and ‘Galaxy S21 Ultra’.
Director Kaufman, who is well known for the films ‘Eternal Sunshine’ and ‘Sinedoki, New York’, utilized the various video shooting features provided by the ‘Galaxy S22 Ultra’ to complete a short film with outstanding visual beauty and sharp details.
The short film ‘Jackals and Fireflies’ to be released this time was inspired by the works of poet Eva HD. Through this work, director Kaufman expressed his contemplation and affection for New York in a unique way.
Cinematographer Chayse Irvin captured the beautiful night view of New York vividly as if seeing it in real life with the ‘Galaxy S22 Ultra”s excellent night shooting function. Director Kaufman said, “Shooting using a Galaxy smartphone is an effective approach to actualizing the film,” and expressed satisfaction by saying, “The finished work is very beautiful.”
‘The Jackal and the Fireflies’ will be exclusively released at the ‘Galaxy Experience Space’ located in San Francisco, where the event will be held in line with ‘Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2023’ on February 1 (local time), and later director Kaufman will participate. It will also be introduced to the public through a New York premiere event.
