Samsung Electronics recovered trillion won in operating profit in a quarter for the first time this year.
Although we reduced the deficit in the semiconductor sector, we still recorded a deficit of over 3 trillion won, which did not reduce it as much as expected.

Samsung Electronics announced that its operating profit for the third quarter of this year was provisionally estimated at 2.4336 trillion won.
Although it is a 78% decrease compared to the same period last year, it is 32% higher than the market forecast of 1.8 trillion won.
The third quarter is the first time this year that quarterly operating profit has been recorded in trillions.
In the first and second quarters, the company only made an operating profit of around 600 billion won each.
By sector, semiconductors still recorded large losses.
The Device Solutions (DS) division, which handles semiconductors, still had a deficit of 3.75 trillion won.
Semiconductor losses have been recorded for three consecutive quarters, and including the first half of the year, the semiconductor deficit this year alone amounts to 12.69 trillion won.
However, the deficit was reduced by approximately 600 billion won compared to the previous quarter due to an increase in the average selling price of DRAM and an increase in shipments.
Although the foundry continued to experience sluggish performance due to low line operation rates, it achieved its largest quarterly order intake ever, focusing on high-performance computing (HPC).
The market expects that the semiconductor sector will see full-fledged performance improvement in the fourth quarter as demand for artificial intelligence increases and memory prices rebound.
The device experience (DX) division recorded 3rd quarter sales of 44.02 trillion won and operating profit of 3.73 trillion won.
Among these, the Mobile Experience (MX) business showed solid growth with all new products, including foldable smartphones, tablets, and wearable products, showing strong sales in the third quarter.
Display (SDC) sales were KRW 8.22 trillion and operating profit was KRW 1.94 trillion, with profits from small and medium-sized panels increasing significantly compared to the previous quarter.
