Jakarta, Selular.ID – Samsung won’t kill the Galaxy Note series completely, but there won’t be a Galaxy Note 21 series this year. This is according to a new report citing Samsung IT and mobile chief DJ Koh.
As reported by Digital Daily (via MySmartPrice), Koh noted at the shareholders’ meeting in Korea that Samsung intends to launch a new Galaxy Note model in 2022. The launch was skipped this year due to the launch of the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
This clashes with reports from last December that Samsung will be pushing a new Galaxy Note this year.
Doubts that Samsung killed the Galaxy Note line first arose when the S21 Ultra made its debut. The reason is, this latest Samsung flagship provides support for the S Pen features that were previously specific to the Galaxy Note series.
With this in mind, it looks like Samsung will replace the Note series with the S line-up as the only flagship.
But in reality, by postponing the next Note series, it looks like Samsung wants to collect as many sales opportunities as possible for the Galaxy S21 Ultra, without being matched by its own family.
The ongoing semiconductor crisis is also weighing on Samsung’s mind. “The imbalance between supply of spare parts and demand on the technology side is serious,” said Koh.
Koh did not state when the new Note series phones would arrive in 2022, saying that “times may vary.”
This product traditionally made its debut in the second half of this year as Samsung’s flagship H2. It’s still unclear whether the company will launch another device to fill the Galaxy Note’s neglect this year.
