Samsung delivered four times more foldables this year than in 2020

Samsung pats itself on the back and says that the company has delivered four times more foldables this year than in 2020. The success is partly due to the significant price reduction, especially for the Z Flip 3.

This year’s foldable mobiles from Samsung, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, sold even better during the first month after the launch than what its predecessors did throughout last year.

Samsung unveiled its first prototype of a foldable screen back in 2011. In the spring of 2012, the flexible screen technology was called “You” on the company’s website. In the beginning, the marketing material was a kind of sci-fi vision with wild and futuristic constructions.

The company’s first commercial smartphone that took advantage of flexible screen technology, the Galaxy Round, was released in 2013. Foldables is expected to fall further in price next year and take another step towards becoming mainstream.
