Samsung reportedly plans to equip Oppo phones and Xiaomi with an Exynos processor. The processor is predicted to be used by the two Chinese cellphone vendors in the first half of 2021.
So far, Samsung has only offered its processor to Vivo. The South Korean company supplies the Exynos 980 and Exynos 880 on several Vivo cellphones.
Launch Android Authority, Samsung plans to supply Exynos processors to Oppo and Xiaomi in 2021. This processor will be used in some of the low-cost phones belonging to the two cellphone companies.
The publication reports that Samsung has started reducing the supply of Exynos chipsets to Samsung’s wireless business division due to low profit margins.
At the same time, Xiaomi and Oppo are looking for Exynos chipsets because they need more processors to expand production in order to take advantage of the problems faced by Huawei. Additionally, Exynos processors are competitively priced.
Xiaomi and Oppo’s strategy to take advantage of the problems plaguing Huawei in the United States should come as no surprise. Recent reports suggest that Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy S30 series earlier than usual in response to the situation Huawei is facing.
Launch Gizmo China, Exynos chip has mostly been used in Samsung Galaxy devices. In addition, this chip is also used by Motorola and Meizu cellphones.
So, cooperation with Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo is considered to be able to compete with Qualcomm or MediaTek’s dominance.
