Samsung CEO’s Comments on Monetizing Galaxy AI: What Does the Future Hold?

  • Samsung CEO comments on ‘Galaxy AI for money’
  • He admitted that there is no exact plan yet, but they are considering both options
  • Samsung mainly wants to fulfill the requirements of all users

The premiere of the new Galaxy S24 phones and the artificial intelligence Galaxy AI had a strange start for many. Right after the launch, it became clear that Samsung is considering charging for some functions of Galaxy AI after 2025. The company’s CEO TM Roh has now commented on the whole situation.

Galaxy AI – free or for money?

A footnote in the official press release released by Samsung for the new Galaxy S24 phones sparked passion. It said: “Galaxy AI features will be provided free of charge on supported Samsung Galaxy devices until at least the end of 2025. The availability of AI features provided by third parties is subject to change and is subject to the provider’s own terms and conditions.”

Samsung surprises: some functions of Galaxy AI will be free maybe only until 2025

Samsung is not directly saying that all Galaxy AI features will be monetized, but it is at least implying that it is considering charging for some features. At the moment, it should be noted that the Galaxy S23 series and the Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 jigsaws will also receive AI gadgets, so the possible introduction of a subscription would affect quite a large number of customers.

Samsung statement

At that time, we contacted the Czech representation of Samsung with a request for a comment. The press department did not want to comment on the situation in any way, only saying that no plans to introduce a fee for Galaxy AI are currently on the table.

And the director of the Korean giant TM Roh expressed himself in exactly the same way – uncertainly. For Indian server Telecom stated: “There are various uses of mobile artificial intelligence. So there will be consumers who will settle for using AI for free. Then there may also be customers who want even more powerful AI and will even pay for it.”

He also said that they will also take into account these factors – user requirements and preferences – in future decisions. However, at this point it has obviously not been decided yet.
