Samsung believes that foldables will become mainstream now

Samsung’s mobile director TM Roh writes in a speech that the time is ripe for foldables to become mainstream. Last year, almost 10 million foldables were delivered, which should have meant an increase of 300 percent compared to 2020.

TM Roh predicts that the rapid growth rate of foldables will continue and that we are now at the moment when foldables become a widespread technology that takes up a larger part of the smartphone market.

Samsung’s statements are of course due to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 which will be launched on August 10. The post also states that the Galaxy Flip, with the same form factor as a classic folding phone, sells significantly better than the Fold.

Last year, Flip accounted for 70 percent of the sales of Samsung’s foldables, while just under one in three chose Fold instead.
