A Samsung yesterday unveiled its new family of mid-range smartphones, the Galaxy A series, highlighting the A53 5G and A33 5G models. However, the A73 5G was also present, but not in the manufacturer’s official communication. The reason is that this model, which last year was the only one in the family to receive 5G, is intended for very specific markets on April 22, hence it was “overshadowed” by the global announcement. SAPO TEK questioned Samsung Portugal to find out if the model would reach our market, but the brand says it has no plans for now.
The Galaxy A73 5G assumes itself as the smartphone of the Samsung cheaper with a 108 MP camera. In fact, it is one of the few smartphones with a camera of this resolution on the market and it is the same as the one equipped on the Galaxy S22 ultra. In comparison, the A53 5G that was unveiled yesterday has a 64 MP main camera. It also has three more cameras in its module, including a 12 MP ultra wide angle, a 5 MP depth sensor and a 5 MP macro camera. At the front there is a 32 MP selfie camera.

Compared to the previous version, or Galaxy A72, the model lost its 8 MP telephoto camera, returning to the depth sensor. It also lost the 3.5mm input jack for connecting headphones. The model has a larger 6.7-inch screen compared to the 6.5-inch A53 5G. Its Super AMOLED+ screen has a 120 Hz refresh rate and a form of Infinity-O Display.
Other features go through an eight-core processor at 2.4 Hz, although it has not been revealed. It also includes a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 25 W fast charging. Like the other models in the series, the charger is not in the box. It also has memory variations between 6 GB and 8 GB of RAM, as well as 128 or 256 GB of internal storage, expandable up to 1 TB via microSD.
Like the other models in the family, it has the brand’s One UI 4.1 operating system, supported by Android 12. The company has not confirmed on its product page, but like the other family members, it should guarantee up to four generations of updates from the One UI and Android, as well as five years of security patches.
