In the absolute overall ranking of “Samsonas Rally Utena”, the crew E.Blūms/D.Eglītis finished in fourth place. The overall victory of the rally for the Nordstrand crew, the Lithuanian crew V.Jurkevičius/A.Paliukenas in second place, 20.04 seconds behind the leader. Estonians E.Kaur/A.Birjukov are in third place, losing 21.06 seconds to the leader. The rally took place on Saturday and Sunday, with a total distance of 118.30 km. All crews had to complete a total of 14 stages, which were fast, technical and enjoyable for both athletes and spectators. The organizers of the rally had worked hard to create a festive atmosphere.
Emils Blum, rally pilot of the Rallyworkshop team: “On Saturday, the weather was changeable, sometimes it rained – we all had to be precise, because it was sliding more than usual. The speed sections were at a variable pace – both very narrow and later with trots, you have to work precisely so as not to damage the car, mistakes will pay dearly. There were springboards on the track, where we got good emotions. A huge thank you to everyone on our team, mechanics, supporters, family and friends. Sports results depend on many small things – the technique must be in order, you must be physically strong and mentally strong.”
“Even though the victory was won in the Lithuanian Rally Championship, the joy is slightly overshadowed by the second place in the Latvian Rally Championship in the overall season ranking. If we look at it as a whole, the season has been very active, stable and there is both confidence and speed. In the overall ranking of the season, we can see that the winter season played a big role, where the technical control at the stage of the Gulbene rally absolutely disqualified our crew after the victory,” Blums concludes.
Already this weekend, the final stage of the Estonian rally championship, “Rally Saaremaa”, will start.
