SAMPIT, radarsampit.com – As an effort to prevent the spread of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), Class IIB Sampit Penitentiary (Lapas) carried out fogging or fumigation in the prison environment, Friday (28/4). Fogging involved several Kotim Health Service officers.
The DHF Program Manager at the Kotim Office, Robby Indra Wahyudi, said the efforts to exterminate mosquitoes and their larvae at Sampit Prison were a preventive measure so that no one in prison would get dengue fever.
“This fogging is a form of concern for the local government through the Kotim Health Office in order to prevent disease and ensure that people live healthy and are free from mosquito attacks, especially carriers or vectors of DHF,” he said.
Head of Class IIB Penitentiary Sampit Agung Supriyanto added, this activity was carried out in collaboration with the prison and the Kotim Health Office. The prison environment is a risky location for the spread of dengue fever, due to the large number of prison inmates.
Eradication of the Aedes Aegepty mosquito cannot only be done by maintaining cleanliness, but must also be eradicated by fogging or fumigation.
“Our plan was welcomed by the Kotim Health Office which was followed up by assigning a fogging operator to Sampit Lapas,” he said.
He also expressed his gratitude for the synergy and support from the Health Service to jointly carry out health prevention and development for the WBP.
“We will continue to try to make various efforts to maintain and ensure the health of the prisoners while they are in prison, in order to support the coaching program that is being carried out at the Sampit prison. Hopefully, with the various efforts that we have made, all prisoners can serve their sentence in prison in good health,” he stated. (in/yit)
