Gravano, also known as “Sammy the Bull”, was the leader of the Gambino crime family in New York City, and worked with the United States government as an informant to bring down Mafia boss John Gotti in the early 1990s.
Gravano, who admitted his involvement in 19 murders, was released from prison in 2017 after being sentenced to 20 years on a drug charge in Arizona.
Trump shared a clip from a television interview with Gravano in which the latter described Trump as a “legitimate man.”
Trump wrote: “Thank you Sammy the Bull. I hope the judges see, we need justice, strength and honesty in the New York courts, and we don’t have that now.”
In the interview clip, Gravano said that he “failed to get Trump to work for him, and that Trump simply did not want to get involved with the mob.”
He added: “I tried several times to pressure him, but I was unable to reach him. He did not want to.”
“Trump thanks Gambino mobster, rat, and serial liar Gravano, who has confessed to 19 murders, countless kidnappings, armed robberies, burglaries, and thousands of other felonies,” Ron Filipkowski, an outspoken Trump critic, wrote on X on Saturday. .
