Samková slept badly and fell during training. In the end, however, she stamped out a great triumph

By winning a crystal globe, Eva Samková exceeded her expectations before the season. She won the snowboard cross world cup for the third time after today’s victory in the final of the season in Veysonnaz.

“I don’t even know what our expectations for the season were, but this exceeded those expectations. It was a great season and I thank everyone who helps me and supports me. I wouldn’t be able to do it without them,” Samková said in a media recording.

“Evka says that it was a close victory, but it was not, it was a victory completely controlled. In the final, it was her best ride, as usual,” said coach coach Marek Jelínek. “Evka is the best in the world today, the best of the season. Great conclusion.”

Before the decisive race of the season, Samková knew that she was waiting for a globe fight with the Italian Michele Moioli, with whom they had the same points at the top. “I slept a little worse, I didn’t sleep quite like a hoopoe, but I probably slept well,” Samkova said.

Ideally, however, one training run did not take place shortly before the race. “I fell in the third turn, which was probably a good thing, because then I was more careful. It fell a lot, it was more broken,” said the 27-year-old racer.

In the quarterfinals, however, she did not hesitate and clearly advanced from the first place. “I drove off,” said Samková, who then watched the progress from the semifinals.

She went to the finals very well. “I did my best start,” she praised herself. She used her speed and led from the first turn to the finish. “I just stomped and stomped, I didn’t even look back and just knew they were somewhere behind me. I was just trying to stomp on the finish line and luckily it worked out. It’s great that it turned out like this,” she rejoiced.

According to Jelínek, Samková showed excellent performances. “I’m sure she drives the best she’s ever ridden,” he said, adding with a view to the future: “It’s good before the Olympic season. The starting line, when you’re ahead, is always better than catching up.”
