Didn’t go to the final: “People have the evil eye on us”

Samir Badran and Viktor Frisk were back in Melodifestivalen after a break of five years.
But the joy was short-lived – the duo went straight out of the competition.
– It feels sad. I don’t like the evil eye people have on us, says Samir Badran.
Samir Badran33, and Viktor Frisk28, went straight out of Melodifestivalen 2024.
They have had a break from Melodifestivalen for five years and were ready for a grand comeback. The duo finished fifth in the competition.
Samir is disappointed that the song did not go down well with the audience and is most saddened by reactions that follow the result.
– I don’t like the evil eye that people have on us, those who are happy that we didn’t go ahead, says Samir.

“People are happy with damage”
– Those who don’t like us are happy that we went out, of course, he says
Is that what feels the hardest almost?
– Yes, one hundred percent. It is what determines whether you get on, what people think, he says.

“We did our best
Despite the results, the other half of the duo, Viktor Frisk, is optimistic about the future.
– It feels sad, but it also feels like we did our best. This is the beginning of something new, he says.
The desire for revenge is great.
– I’m actually trying to see this positively. I think that sometimes it might be good to get a fucking slap in the face to come back and do it even better, he says.

Samir about the app problem: “Sad if that’s the case”
The duo mentions the app struggle during the evening as a possible reason why they didn’t go ahead.
– Maybe the song wasn’t good. It could also have been a mess with that app that everyone is talking about, says Samir.
They find it sad if the technical problems have affected the result.
– We were on stage then, so we don’t know. We’ve only been told that after the fact. You never know, and it’s sad if that’s the case.
– It could be that it took longer than usual for some users to get into the app, I don’t know how many there were. But the end result is completely normal. It is the normal number of people who were inside and could vote, all viewer groups were represented. So in the end it was nothing abnormal at all, says project manager for Melodifestivalen, Anders Wistbacka.
