Ex-professional Sami Khedira (34) speaks in an interview with the US sports broadcaster ESPN, among other things, about the 2014 world championship title and his time together with Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid and Juventus Turin.
According to Khedira, who hung up his boots last summer, his career hasn’t just been about winning titles, it’s about the experiences and the great people he’s met. People are the most important thing for him.

Khedira joined Real Madrid in 2010, a year after Cristiano Ronaldo. In 2018, the two met again at Juventus Turin. In the interview, he said he met two different versions of Ronaldo.

At Juventus, his personality, which has grown over the years, has shown itself, with the same motivation and goal hunger as before. Khedira emphasized his leadership qualities and Ronaldo’s composure off the pitch.
Khedira: Injury comeback and 2014 world title
After suffering a cruciate ligament injury in November 2013, doctors predicted that Khedira would miss the rest of the season and possibly the World Cup. But the former national player didn’t give up and put all his energy into rehab – with success. Khedira made his comeback in the LaLiga season and played a crucial role in the World Cup.

Jogi Löw’s half-time speech in the semi-finals is something Khedira remembers in particular: “Löw was the most important thing that day.” In the 7-1 win against Brazil and the unbelievable 5-0 half-time lead, Löw reminded his players not to let up and to show respect to the host country and not laugh at them. He also threatened the DFB kickers with a substitution and the reserve bench in the final if they didn’t follow his speech. (jvd)
