The events of the film take place in Syria during the conflicts of the past years, where a missile destroys the roof of the house of the 14-year-old girl, Zeina “Hala Zein”, so she then sleeps under the stars for the first time, and establishes a friendship with Amer “Nizar Al-Ani”, the boy next door, and as the violence escalates, her mother insists Hala “Kinda Alloush” is about to leave and enters into a conflict with her husband Moataz “Samer Al-Masry”, who refuses to become a refugee and prevents his family from leaving the house.
The movie “Exodus” was written and directed by Soudad Kaadan and filmed in Turkey. It stars Kinda Alloush, Samer Al-Masry, Hala Zein, Nizar Al-Ani, and Darina Al-Jundi, and was filmed by the famous director of photography, Helen Louvare.
The film “Exodus” toured in several prestigious international festivals, including the London Film Festival in Europe and the Mostra de Valencia Film Festival in Spain. Thus, director Soudad Kaadan has three awards from the Venice Film Festival, as it won Her previous film, The Day I Lost My Shadow, won the Lion of the Future Award in 2018, and the film also won the Amnesty International Award at the Medfilm Film Festival.
