Students and staff of the Jean Jaurès University are mobilizing against the pension reform. The organizers hope that the first demonstration, scheduled for Thursday, January 19, will lead to a renewable strike. An objective shared with CGT Pétrole de Haute-Garonne.
The General Assembly (GA) took place this Tuesday, January 17. Several student and staff unions at the Jean Jaurès University (CGT, NPA Jeunes, Unef, Sud Education, Collectif “Le Poing Levé”) have decided to participate in Act 1 of the mobilization against the pension reform in Toulouse.
A mobilization that is also supported by the University’s Board of Directors. Students who “skip” classes because of a “protest” will not be “marked absent”.
This Thursday, January 19, students and staff will therefore take to the streets alongside other employees from the private sector and the public service.
There is nothing to take in this reform and we refuse to work until an age when we are no longer in good health.
Natalia from the “Le Poing Levé” collective – Jean Jaurès University
Obviously the first test will be that of mobilization. And, on the side of the Jean Jaurès University, towing operations are planned on the campus in order to strengthen the ranks of the demonstrators.
The inter-union also appeals to other Toulouse universities to form a common procession in order to “mass”. The objective is to influence the government in order to obtain a total withdrawal from the reform.
To achieve this objective, the Mirail student and staff unions are ready to join the CGT Petroleum approach, namely a renewable strike.
The mobilization against the pension reform is played out in three stages or rather through three dates: January 19, January 26 and February 6.
The CGT Petroleum has already announced that it is part of this duration. Employees of refineries and oil depots in France want to ramp up: lower flow and stoppage of fuel shipments for 24 hours on January 19, 48 hours on January 26 and then 72 hours on February 6.
Mobilization will be monitored. Several depots will be, at the national level, 100% strikers.

At the end of this calendar, a renewable strike could take shape on the horizon. Representative of the Jean Jaurès University collective, “Le Poing Levé”, Alberta is openly in line with this perspective.
By following the call of the refiners, why not a renewable strike during February

For the moment she is concentrating on the success of the January 19 demonstration. But the young trade unionist hopes that this is only the beginning of the beginning.
At 24 hours of the day of the mobilization, there are indicators on the extent of the strike of next January 19.
Education. The SNUipp-FSU 31 organized a “survey” of 179 schools in Haute-Garonne. 1387 teachers participated. 1162 declare that they will be on strike next January 19th. In other words, 84% of school teachers who participated in teacher union investigation should not provide lessons.
Transport. The SNCF has drawn up a traffic forecast. At the national level, it must be “very disturbed with only 1 TER out of 10 on average.“In our region, on the Toulouse-Paris axis, only 1 TGV out of 5 must circulate. Air traffic in the Toulouse sky also promises to be disrupted, with cancellations and delays. Indeed, the agents of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation are called upon to participate in the protest movement. No number yet. But 1 flight out of 5 (all destinations combined) is canceled to Orly.
Energy and other public services risk being impacted. Including those of the national and municipal police. In the pink city, Force Ouvrière Municipal Police calls on its members to demonstrate and will be present in the processions.
