Former Kadiv Propam Polri Freddy Sambo he admitted he was shocked when he learned that there was CCTV footage showing Brigadier N Yosua Hutabarat was still alive when he arrived at his official residence. Though Sambo made up a story that he arrived when Joshua had already been killed in a shootout with Bharada Eliezer.
This was conveyed by Sambo as he became a witness in the trial of the CCTV vandalism case which delayed the investigation into Yosua’s murder at the South Jakarta District Court on Thursday (22/12/2022). The defendant in this case is Chuck Putranto.
The prosecutor initially asked how Chuck was able to check the CCTV DVR of Duren Tiga’s police compound after the incident with Yosua’s shooting occurred. Sambo also admitted that he didn’t know.
“I don’t know. What is clear is that on the 11th (July) I asked him copy and look inside,” he said Freddie Sambo.
Sambo admits that he only ordered Chuck to copy the CCTV footage and view its contents. Sambo also admitted that he didn’t expect the CCTV footage to disrupt the shooting scenario he had concocted.
“I didn’t focus on CCTV because I didn’t think CCTV would spoil the story I was building. Because on 13th (July) Arif (former Deputy Head of Paminal AKBP Arif) said, ‘This is Yosua who was still there when he was entered my brother’, said Sambo.
He said this was broadcast by Arif on the evening of July 13 in his office. Sambo admitted he was surprised.
“He said ‘History Press release does not match the CCTV footage’. Then I was shocked,” she said.
“On the 13th (July) Arif Rachman reported, didn’t he?” asked the prosecutor.
“I was shocked and panicked to see the condition of Arif Rachman’s report,” Sambo said.
“Surprised by what?” the prosecutor asked again.
“I was surprised because even though I didn’t see him directly at the time, when I entered Duren Tiga’s house, it turned out that Joshua was still alive,” Sambo said.
The prosecutor then asked what Sambo had done to convince Arif again with his scenario. Sambo admitted to ordering the laptop and CCTV footage destroyed.
“I know Arif Rachman’s condition is not strong enough not to do my bidding. Because I said, ‘You don’t believe me,'” he said.
“I said where is the CCTV footage? It’s on the laptop and Flash Disks Baiquni. I ordered, ‘You destroy and erase, I will be responsible,'” Sambo continued.
He said the recording could have been seen by other people had the laptop not been destroyed. She said that the laptop and the flash drive containing the CCTV footage had to be destroyed so that the CCTV footage would be completely lost.
“So that there are no more laptops with recordings,” Sambo said.
