Samaritan’s Purse continues to show God’s love to the people of Ukraine after the catastrophic collapse of the dam in the Kherson region.
Responding to the crisis in Ukraine

To give
The recent collapse of a dam has added further difficulties for the resilient people of Ukraine. On June 6, the Kakhovka dam gave way to a major explosion, unleashing the waters of the largest national reserve on tens of thousands of people in southern Ukraine. Samaritan’s Purse quickly responded with needed help to hundreds of families in the flooded area as we shared the hope of Jesus Christ.
Three days after the collapse, Samaritan’s Purse airlifted 40,000 pounds of supplies in our DC-8 aircraft. Since then, we have been working together with our local ministry partners and churches to rescue more than 300 people from their flooded homes and to distribute nearly 5,000 hot meals and 90,000 liters of clean water.
“The flood rose to eight feet. Everything was destroyed inside my house,” said one man. “The food, the water, everything that Samaritan’s Purse supplies is a wonderful help because everything was destroyed.”
As part of our continued help to people in the Kherson region, Samaritan’s Purse is committed to providing 10 new drinking fountains; we will dig new wells and install reverse osmosis systems. Samaritan’s Purse will also clean up and repair 1,000 affected homes.
Pray for the families impacted by this sudden and unexpected flooding. Pray also for the Samaritan’s Purse team and their local partners as the need in Kherson is great.
Distribution of Bibles to tired Ukrainians
Samaritan’s Purse has been working in the Ukraine since the war began over a year ago. God has used Samaritan’s Purse through emergency mobile hospitals, food distribution, clean water provision and more to help the people of Ukraine during this crisis. Among our efforts, in collaboration with local churches, we are distributing thousands of Ukrainian Bibles.

While physical help can bring temporary hope, God’s Word provides eternal hope.
“Everything we do at Samaritan’s Purse is about the Gospel and spreading the name of Jesus Christ to the world,” said Neyer Corredor, a Samaritan’s Purse worker in Ukraine. “These Bibles remind the people of Ukraine that God loves them, that he has not forgotten them and that he walks with them in these difficult times.”
Please pray that the Gospel of Jesus Christ flourishes in Ukraine through the distribution of God’s Word.
