CONTEXT:
Due to the new coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest was canceled. It was planned to take place in Rotterdam, as the Dutch representative Duncan Lawrence won the final of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019 with the ballad “Arcade”, winning the right of the Netherlands to hold the next competition. The Netherlands will exercise this right in 2021.
The rules of Eurovision stipulate that the representatives of the countries nominated in 2020 may participate in the 2021 competition, but not with the song that won last year. Samanta Tīna, the winner of the Latvian national selection competition “Supernova” in 2020, has also gone to Rotterdam ar dziesmu “The Moon is Rising”. She will participate in the second semi-final of the competition on May 20.
