After all, there hasn’t always been a lot of time to spend as a family and that has everything to do with Sam’s killer schedule as an entertainer. According to Kelly, his schedule is “bursting at the seams” – something that makes Sam very emotional as he thinks about it in the latest episode of his reality show.
The first two weeks of August are now sacred for the family: they spend it together. “Then I won’t do anything. (…) I’ve missed a lot. I think that’s very bad,” says Sam while fighting the tears. “This trip [naar Verona] made up for that. I’m having a hard time… I’m serious, I missed a lot, but we’ll make up for it.”

Now, so many years later, the family has learned to relax and enjoy themselves together. In their program they visit different places in Europe that have a special meaning for them. Expedition Gooris has done Sam especially well as paterfamilias. “I enjoyed it so much,” he says, still in tears, then repeats, “I’ve missed so much. Always work, work, work.”
