‘I once said to laugh: if someone is out of action because of corona, just call.’ Not corona, but the birth of Eva De Roo’s son Arto is the reason that Sam De Bruyn is now temporarily returning to Studio Brussel. De Bruyn worked there from 2008 to 2015 as a presenter and gained fame when he was locked up in the ‘Glass House’ for three years in a row. Music for Life. Afterwards he went to work at Qmusic, in the autumn of 2020 he said goodbye to the radio. “I’m not made to work for someone else on the same project every day,” he says.
Even now, his return to StuBru is emphatically temporary. It is the third time that De Bruyn will be heard again at his old employer. In the spring of 2021, he presented nine weeks on the weekend Travel De Bruyn and in October he was cohost of the zeros with De Roo and Michèle Cuvelier.
After his time at Qmusic, De Bruyn took a three-month vacation. ‘Under duress,’ he says to The newspapaer, ‘because I still haven’t learned to take a vacation.’
Since his departure from Qmusic, De Bruyn has recorded and maintained voice-overs for his travel blog handbagage.com. This also arouses the interest of clients, such as the City of Ostend. His latest project is a webshop for sustainable travel items, Skolto. (eadp)
