The New York Jets are currently preparing for the final three games of the season. For Sam Darnold, the Jets playmaker, it could be the last three games of his career with the New York Jets. Darnold himself still sees himself as a long-term solution to the quarterback position of the New York team.
Sam Darnold last announced that he loves to be with the Jets. He loves the people in the franchise and enjoys living in New York. However, the final decision is not his. He doesn’t lose a thought of starting over with another team at the moment.
The New York Jets currently have an underground balance of 0-13 and have already secured a draft pick within the top 3 of the NFL Draft 2021. With the current negative series, the chances of the No.1 pick are 74% (ESPN’s Football Power Index). Should this scenario actually occur and the Jets secure the No.1 draft pick, New York will inevitably have to deal with quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who is traded as a talent of the century.
Sam Darnold’s rookie contract ($ 9.8 million) is still running for a year. By May, the New York Jets have to make a decision on whether to pull an option for year five (2022). Should the option be drawn, Darnold would be entitled to an estimated $ 25 million guaranteed.
