Sam Altman cancels firing, Elon Musk: Better than joining Microsoft

Jakarta

After Sam Altman was fired from OpenAI, he decided again. Elon Musk, who was also involved in the early days of OpenAI, said it was a better choice than the company and its leadership joining Microsoft.

This was stated by the Boss SpaceX and Tesla in a reply to someone’s tweet on platform X.

“Sam Altman just came back after all that feels like when you watch a movie and they finally wake up and realize it was all a dream,” said @WholeMarsBlog.

“A (semi) independent OpenAI might be better for the world than merging with Microsoft. Less concentration of power,” Musk said.

The drama of Sam Altman’s dismissal by OpenAI’s board of directors lasted for days. At the end of the last five days of tough discussion, debate and persuasion, it was determined that Sam Altman returned to OpenAI to become CEO.

Apart from the return of the former Reddit CEO, the company that owns the ChatGPT chatbot also reshuffled its board of commissioners. Former Salesforce chief executive Bret Taylor, former US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, and Quora founder Adam D’Angelo will be part of the AI startup’s board.

“Taylor will serve as chairman of the board,” the company said.

Previously, if he was fired, Altman was planned to be appointed as head of the new advanced AI group at Microsoft. Satya Nadella was the one who acted quickly and recommended this option to Altman when news of the 38-year-old’s dismissal was announced.

The chaos continues with more than 700 employees demanding the return of Sam Altman as CEO of OpenAI. If not, they threatened to move to Microsoft following Altman. However, Altman has decided to become CEO of OpenAI again. Therefore, the drama at OpenAI should be over.
