Salzburg student expresses feelings and thoughts in writing

Helena Haselsteiner wrote her first novel when she was nine. Now the Salzburg high school graduate has been awarded the Stefan-Zweig-Prize.

Helena Haselsteiner follows in the footsteps of Stefan Zweig, who lives in Salzburg.

What does the Europe of the future look like? “A continent from which diversity only blooms,” writes Helena Haselsteiner. And further: “the sum of all people, all cultures, all cities, mountains and lakes”. The 18-year-old took part in the Stefan-Zweig-Prize and, in the form of an essay, dealt with the author’s visionary thoughts on the subject of Europe. Her clever text was awarded by an appropriate authority: The Stefan-Zweig-Zentrum awards Helena Haselsteiner the second prize, which will be awarded next Wednesday at the Edmundsburg.
