Use high-quality crayons to draw color-fast friends from different backgrounds
(LK) Children want to paint themselves and their friends as they really look. That is why, on the initiative of Provincial Councilor Andrea Klambauer, numerous kindergartens are being given a high-quality set of colored pencils with which all facets of human skin colors can be painted.
“In Salzburg, the diversity of people is part of everyday life. We experience them in kindergarten, at work, in private life. Children perceive different skin colors without prejudice. And we make this diversity tangible, “says Provincial Councilor Andrea Klambauer, who adds:” The colored pencils in different skin colors are a sign that every child is valued as it is. We meet each other without prejudice. “
Pens for the Erentrudis Foundation
Since autumn of the previous year, the 19 parish kindergartens in the Salzburg districts have been gradually brought together under one roof in a foundation of the Archdiocese and Caritas. Young people of different origins and with different mother tongues play together and get to know each other.
Diversity as lived everyday life
“All children are welcome in the foundation’s parish kindergartens. Diversity and multiculturalism in particular enrich everyday life here. Different skin colors are quite normal for the little ones. And the pens are a wonderful way of showing that, ”said Andrea Schmid, Managing Director of the Sankt Erentrudis Foundation, who thanked State Councilor Klambauer“ for this wonderful initiative ”.
Diversity shown in bright colors
The high-quality colored pencils are available to the kindergartens on the initiative of State Councilor Klambauer. In the ergonomic hexagonal format with a soft face, they are suitable for children to draw and mix. The wood for the pens comes from sustainably managed forests with the PEFC seal of approval, packed in a recycled cardboard box. All proceeds go entirely to social projects run by GoVolunteer, a community for volunteer work.
