Three federal states accommodate half of all domestic guests

The long weekend over Pentecost is causing many to take a short holiday trip again this year, and bookings are being made at increasingly short notice. According to a survey, local guests prefer to travel to Styria. This is followed by Carinthia and Salzburg.
22 percent are still undecided, 23 percent are going away straight away, according to a recent survey by the Austrian Hotel Association (ÖHV). Almost two thirds (62 percent) of these stay in Germany. By far the most popular is Styria (23 percent). It is followed by Carinthia (15 percent) and Salzburg (12 percent).

Together, these three federal states will accommodate at least half of all domestic guests over the holidays. “Bookings are being booked at shorter notice than ever before. There’s still a lot going on,” ÖHV President Walter Veit believes that a good number of those who are undecided can still be motivated to take a vacation in Austria.
City trips are a “classic” at Pentecost, the industry representative hopes for a revival in the tourism sector, which is still suffering most from the corona crisis. “The utilization can climb to 70 percent – that’s an important stimulus for the battered companies,” says Veit, locating potential. After all, “virtually all restrictions have been lifted, culture and pubs are open again”, everyone was looking forward to guests.
According to the information, 1,000 people were asked about their holiday plans by the ÖHV together with mindtake pollsters.
