DenizBank AG VL Men: Aich / Dob starts confidently in the top round
SK Zadruga Aich / Dob started with a clear success in the DenizBank AG VL Men top round, defeating VCA Amstetten NÖ in the JUFA-Arena Bleiburg 3-0 (25:14, 25:19, 25:21) in 65 minutes. The Mostviertler had qualified as the winner of the first phase of the basic round for the top round, for the title favorite from Carinthia the game was only the entry into the championship!
“A very convincing victory, some of our established players weren’t even on board today. We have called on the youngest Aich / Dob team for a long time. The guys did a very good job, played really well. Amstetten also performed well. VCA sports director Michael Henschke: “It was the result that was unfortunately to be expected. But the guys presented themselves at eye level at times. That’s what we want. DenizBank AG VL Men: Ried tied with Leader Sokol after victory near Weiz
The only Sunday game in DenizBank AG VL Men basic round (phase 2) between VBC TLC Weiz and UVC Weberzeile Ried ended with a clear success for the Innviertel team. The guests prevailed 3-0 (25:20, 25:17, 25:16) and celebrated their first victory in the third duel of the season with the Styrians. Like table leader TJ Sokol Wien V, Ried now holds 26 points, but has played one game less (13). Next Saturday, the team of head coach Dominik Kefer will receive TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg in the last championship game of the year, so they will have the chance to go into the Christmas break as championship leaders.
“Weiz had extreme problems with our service and actually never really got into the game. My boys implemented the tactical guidelines very well today and of course I’m pleased. If you are three to five points ahead from the start, it just plays a little more relaxed ”, summarized Ried coach Kefer.

Defeat for VCA Amstetten NÖ at the beginning of the top round
It was the expected difficult game for VCA Amstetten NÖ at the start of the top round of the best four teams in DenizBank AG Volley League Men 2020/21. After the Lower Austrians sovereignly qualified for the group of top teams in the domestic league in the first phase of the round, the three-time Austrian champions SK Zadruga Aich / Dob were probably the toughest opponents at the start. The Carinthians could clearly win the duel, which was held in the Bleiburg JUFA-Arena, with 3-0.

In the second set the Lower Austrians found their way into the match better, but could not call up the good performance over an entire set. “But I’ve seen a lot of great approaches and we have to keep working on them,” said Henschke.
In the third set, too, his team kept up with the title favorites for a long time, even leading with two points in between. “You could already see in the game today how they improved from set to set. This is exactly what I hope to develop in this intermediate round. They should improve their performance from game to game, ”explained Henschke.
The VCA will continue in the top round on Friday. At home in the Johann-Pölz-Halle you receive the UVC Holding Graz.
