“The federal congress of the League will probably be at the beginning of the year. By the end of 2024 there will be the regional one and the federal one at the beginning of 2025″. This was announced by the leader of the League and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Matteo Salvinion the sidelines of the inauguration of Eicma, the international two-wheel exhibition which opens at the Milan Fair in Rho.
Thus the regional congresses in Lombardy and the federal one of the party were confirmed, after months of waiting by the militants.
For the moment, all eyes are on the one in the cradle region of the Carroccio which will most likely be held before Christmas. For three years the local party has been under the administration of a loyalist of Matteo Salvini, the deputy of Rho Fabrizio Cecchetti. Massimiliano Romeoleader of the League in the Senate, is a candidate for leadership. The leader wants a loyalist. Three names are being discussed: the deputy national secretary, Andrea CrippaCecchetti and the deputy Luca Toccalinihead of the youth team. Romeo doesn’t give up and has already warned: “I’m not retiring, I’ll stay on the field until the end, even if they tell me to step aside.” Meanwhile, the regional conference is confirmed and there is an indicative date for the national one, at the beginning of 2025.
