Salviac. Rescued animals invited to seniors’ homes

Élodie Lablanche, director of the Les minipattes educational farm, located in Cazals and made up mainly of mistreated, abandoned or culled animals from rescue breeding, was invited on Wednesday October 16 to the Maison de Mélanie, the Salviac nursing home.

Sweetness, sharing and emotion were in order that day. Helped by the nursing home staff, the facilitator Clair Marielle installed the residents one by one around the Mini Paws, while Élodie introduced her protégés by bringing them into contact with each of the seniors. The smile that then lit up the faces of the elders needed no comment. A dog, a pony, a goose, a goat, and a big rabbit living alongside a cute little guinea pig, were the attractions of this animation.

Seniors were not the only ones to benefit from this opportunity, some children of volunteers, staff or even residents’ families also shared this moment of joy.

And also the nursing home celebrated Taste Week

This week was also Taste Week, and like every year, the chefs from the nursing home took the taste buds of seniors on a journey. Every day, its regional dish was the watchword of this particular moment. Thus, throughout the week one followed one another; Auvergne hotpot, Quercy pastis, couscous, and to close this week of taste, a festive “guinguette” meal with a musician and a singer was planned for Friday. At the end of this event, residents and children gathered in the restaurant room for a delicious snack.

Next week, the seniors will go to the village of La Roque-Gageac in Périgord Noir, for a trip on the Dordogne river in gabares (traditional flat-bottomed Dordogne boat).

Note that the nursing home was also present at the Pink October day in the village hall! “We participate as much as possible in the village’s actions!” Claire said.
