The City Hall of Salvador starts two vaccination campaigns, simultaneously, from Monday (4): flu and measles.
–
In total, all 156 vaccine rooms set up in the city’s Primary Care health posts will serve the public. The folder will also carry out home immunization (preferably for bedridden people or people with limited mobility).
–
The mobile teams will travel through Long Stay institutions, hospitals, clinics, laboratories and other health establishments with the active search for the target population.
–
Vaccination points will also be installed in shopping malls, transshipment stations and spaces with large circulation of people to expand access to doses.
–
Since children are currently being immunized against Covid-19, the recommendation is that the dose of the flu and measles vaccine are not applied together with the coronavirus vaccine in this public.
–
“Parents should give priority to vaccinating their children first against the coronavirus. The dose of the flu and measles vaccine can be applied simultaneously 15 days after the administration of the immunization against Covid-19”, highlights Doiane Lemos, coordinator of Immunization of Salvador.
–
The flu campaign will be divided into two phases. In the first, which takes place from April 4th to May 2nd, elderly people aged 60 and over and health workers will be covered.
–
In the second phase, between the 3rd of May and the 3rd of June, it will focus on children from six months to under 5 years old (4 years, 11 months and 29 days), pregnant women, postpartum women, permanently disabled, truck drivers, public transport workers, security forces, teachers and people with comorbidities.
–
The goal is to immunize at least 90% of the eligible population for strategy. It is estimated that about 1.2 million people are part of the flu campaign’s target audience this year.
–
The measles strategy will also be divided into two stages. The first will be between April 4th and May 2nd, for health workers (regardless of vaccination status). Pregnant women are exempt from immunization.
–
From May 3 to June 3, it will be the turn of children from six months to under 5 years old (4 years, 11 months and 29 days), who must take an extra dose of the MMR vaccine, even though they have already taken it. the two doses of the immunizer. Only children who took the MMR less than a month ago should not be vaccinated again.
