Nepal national team captain Pujan Uparkoti said he saluted the Indonesian fans after his team lost at Asian Cup Qualification 2023.
Uparkoti became one of the Nepalese players who was in the spotlight because he was seen beating Indonesian national team winger Saddil Ramdani in the final match of Group A of the 2023 Asian Cup Qualification.
Realizing that he would be attacked by Indonesian netizens, Uparkoti locked his Instagram account.
Not long after, Uparkoti made an Instastory which stated that he saluted the supporters of the Indonesian National Team.
“Respect. Salute to all Indonesian fans who love the team and your support for the players. Thank you,” Uparkoti wrote, including the Indonesian pennant.
Uparkoti was the leader of the Gorkhalis squad on the pitch, but the 26-year-old showed an inappropriate attitude in the 2023 Asian Cup Qualifying match.

Uparkoti was seen releasing a slap to Saddil Ramdani’s head in an incident on the ground. Uparkoti was seen hitting the Indonesian national team winger after a harsh violation by a Nepalese player against Asnawi Mangkualam.
Due to a brutal tackle on a teammate, Saddil also came to the scene of the crime. For a moment the situation became heated.
The Nepalese and Indonesian players then seemed to calm Saddil. When the Sabah player was arguing with one of the opposing players, suddenly Uparkoti’s punch was seen hitting the back of Saddil’s head.
Uparkoti then received a strong reprimand from Fachruddin Wahyudi Aryanto and Rizky Ridho. Fachruddin and Uparkoti then argued with each other.
Referee Hussein Abo Yehia from Lebanon then summoned Uparkoti and Saddil. Both players were given a yellow card in the aftermath of the incident that occurred around the 71st minute.
