Salud Colima promotes the importance of human papilloma virus vaccine

Colima, Col.- The Secretary of Health of the Government of the State of Colima, carried out the forum “Medical and Social Importance of Vaccination against Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)”, in which medical, nursing, promotion staff were provided of health, teachers and high school students, knowledge in relation to vaccination against this disease.

During this forum, which was attended by the Secretary of Health, Martha Janeth Espinosa Mejía, the situation of cervical-uterine cancer in Mexico and the importance of prevention, through vaccination, promoting the operation to recover vaccination coverage against the ‘HPV, which will soon unfold in the state of Colima.

Expert speakers on the topics of universal vaccination presented topics for analysis and discussion on the epidemiological situation and on diseases preventable with the HPV vaccine, they addressed the topics: Current situation of cervical and uterine cancer; Human Papilloma Virus and its contribution to the development of cervical-uterine cancer; HPV Vaccine and Impact on HPV Vaccine in our Country; and the round table “Contribution of the HPV vaccine in the reduction of cervical cancer”.

The Secretary of Health has invited mothers and fathers to join together to work as a team for the health of their daughters and sons and advance during the next operation, in the recovery of vaccination coverage in 13 and 14 year old girls, who have not received a dose of this vaccine. He underlined that vaccination is a priority strategy that allows to control, eliminate and eradicate diseases and contribute to the full development of adolescents, as well as their future adulthood.

This forum was attended by 60 health professionals and 11 from the Ministry of Education, including teachers and high school students, as well as speakers from the Ministry of Health (SS), the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) and the Ministry of Marina (Semar).
