They are effective against bacterial infections, not viruses, the agency clarifies
The Secretary of Health of the Government of the State of Colima pointed out that antibiotics are not effective in preventing or treating Covid-19, since they are effective against bacterial infections and Covid is caused by a virus, so these drugs do not work against the virus; He stressed that the population should not take antibiotics as a means of prevention or treatment of Covid and should only be taken following the instructions of a doctor and to treat a bacterial infection.
The Epidemiology Subdirectorate of the state agency clarified that the booster doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have the same ingredients or formulation as the current vaccines, hence all the vaccines against this condition contain elements that contribute to preventing the disease or reduce the risks of complication or death from it.
In addition, he reiterated that the number of doses of the Covid vaccine that people must receive to complete their main scheme depends on the type of vaccine that they have applied.
Thus, for the Cansino and Johnson & Johnson vaccines, only one dose is required as the initial regimen; for the Pfizer, Astrazeneca, Sinovac and Moderna vaccines, two doses are needed to be considered as a complete regimen, and for the Abdala vaccine, three doses are essential as the primary regimen.
He indicated that people who suffer from Covid-19 and have not received all their vaccines must stay at home for at least five days, confirmed the Ministry of Health.
